The Team

Cor and Louise Carelsen are the managing directors and owners of LVHS. They have worked at LVHS since 2003, and in 2007 took the opportunity to purchase LVHS outright. They haven’t looked back since.

Cor, a native of South Africa, is a dedicated conservationist and guide. He has a diploma in Nature Conservation and has worked as a project manager for a charitable conservation foundation in Ecuador which was dedicated to preserving virgin Andean cloud forests. Cor has also served as the Estate Manager for a racehorse stud and training farm in England. Cor has ridden from a young age on his family’s farm horses, but only started riding on a professional basis when he worked as a guide for Equus Horse Safaris.

It was at Equus that Cor met Louise, a dual British/American citizen brought up in Germany, Switzerland and England. Louise has been passionate about horses from as soon as she could walk! An experienced competitor on the affiliated British Eventing circuit, Louise has also worked as an exercise rider for top trainers in Newmarket and participated as an amateur jockey at ‘Point to Point’ race meetings. Trained professionally at the French National Riding School at Saumur, Louise is now qualified as an International BHS Intermediate Instructor.

‘West’ Mmanoko is a rare breed of man, a Motswana with a passion for and love of horses and conservation. West started with LVHS in 2003 as a groom. Since 2006, with guidance and assistance from the team of highly experienced equestrians at LVHS, West has become a lead guide and an inspiration to all his co-workers.

David Cheno, long time head groom and assistant guide, has been with LVHS since 2004 and started lead guiding in 2009. He has a great sense of humour and responsibility and loves his horses.

Malora Zeller is our Assistant Manager and sometimes truck driver. She was born in South Africa and grew up in Kruger National Park where her father was a warden. Besides being very conservation oriented, she has a degree in art and psychology from Rhodes University. Luckily for us she is a keen rider too and we are delighted to have her on our team.

Mpho Serumola has worked at LVHS since 2004 and is an assistant guide. He is a natural talent on a horse and a great help with schooling and keeping them fit. He is a quiet presence and very keen to teach you about the bush.

Mmushi Selomo has worked at LVHS since 2004 and is also an assistant guide. He is a very gentle and kind person and looks after his guests very well and our horses meticulously.

Martha and Grace Mosholombe are sisters and our bush cooks and Maitseo Rsedibo is our waitress/housekeeper. All three are cheerful ladies who cook and clean to very high standards. They guarantee that you go home well fed and rested!

Masebe Mpodisa is our truck driver and Safari Manager, a lovely father figure, happy to chat with you.

We have a dedicated team of grooms to help look after the horses both at home and on safari.
